I am Lorraine Dorman (MeMaw), 85 years old, and think of myself as a late 'bloomer'.

For years, there were three things that I always wanted to do: teach, paint, and write.

At age 46 I became a full time college student and earned my AA degree in Early Childhood Education and went on to teach for 15 years.

As for painting, I just dabbled along until my husband encouraged me to become serious about my painting.

I've done many paintings for my family, but now I have decided to make copies of my original paintings and sell them.

I also write cook books for my grandchildren, poetry, and essays. My 85 years in West Virginia and Florida have given me many things to write about.

"Thank you, Jesus."

Lorraine's Fruit Cakes

Do you remember or maybe heard about the old A&P stores?
All of the A&P products were high quality, but three were very famous; their Eight O' Clock freshly ground coffee, Jane Parker fruit cake, and their Spanish Bar cake. Their fruit cake with over two thirds  fruits and nuts was long known as one of America's favorites. When I was a young girl in the late 1930's, money was hard to come by and four or five dollars for a 4.6 pound fruit cake was out of the question. The A&P that we traded at had a fruit cake club. Mama paid a little each week until the total was paid and we then got our lovely fruit cake. Over the years I've baked several varieties of fruit cakes and the one I now bake reminds me of the Jane Parker. My cake is two thirds cherries, pineapple, and pecans baked into an all butter moist cake. Scrumptious! Try it -you'll like it! -Lorraine
If you would like to buy, please contact me at: lorraines.creations@yahoo.com or 904-764-976. Each cake is $60.
